Adventure Awaits – 10 Jobs to Travel With

Love to travel but don’t own a money tree?? I feel you. When I first quit my 9-5 to go out in to the world, with not more than £2000 in my bank account, needless to say I was a wee bit scared, but driven by blind hopeless love and a need to see the world off I went, and it was the best decision I ever made! Eventually though we had to come home due to lack of funds, but with the fierce determination not to go back to the 9-5. Instead I started to freelance, and also started up my own business, giving me the money and freedom to travel a lot more!! There are a lot of ways to make money while you travel to pay your way. So for those with eternal wanderlust, here are the top 20 of the best jobs for love to travel.

1. Teach English

It just so happens that English speakers hold one of the most sought after skills in the world: speaking English. It may seem simple, but its one of your best traits. Teaching English in a foreign country is just as rewarding for you as it is for your students, and it will allow you to travel the world with ease. Jobs are in abundance, however you may require certification- thankfully that can be attained easily within one month!

2. Become a Surf or Ski/Snowboard instructor

Another very popular choice for seasonal travelers is to teach surfing, ski-ing or snowboarding! Obviously you have to be skilled in the sport, however if you are, it could mean year round fun doing what you love! I have friends who do a season on the slopes of France in the winter, then travel down south for the summer in time to pick up their surf board! If you just surf travel between, France or Portugal in the summer, to Morocco or the Canaries for some winter sun! Check out seasonworkers.com.

3. Become a Tour Guide

if you are outgoing and friendly, this is perhaps one of the best love-your-job’s in the world. Imagine living in a foreign country showing travelers who, like you love to travel, around your new home. So long as you love to chat and are passionate about the new country or city in which you live, you are bound to love the job of a tour guide!

4. Flight Attendant

This would have to be one of the most obvious jobs for people who love to travel, but is also one of the most attainable and enjoyable. Imagine jet setting around the world, staying a night or two in foreign cities, only to wake up and do it all over again. You will have to love people, but as far as qualifications go, most airlines will only except prior experience in customer service and certification. Expect crazy hours and a crazy lifestyle, it is not as easy as it looks or sounds, but totally perfect for travel lovers. What’s more, you’ll score heavily discounted flights for you and your family. Win-win!

5. WWOOF

If you are an explorer who likes the idea of giving back, WWOOF (world wide opportunities on organic farms) is perhaps your answer! WWOOF offers travelers a chance to travel in an ethical way that will also involve payment – AMAZING!!!

Jobs on cruises are in abundance, but they are also highly sought after. If you do manage to land a gig, you will be delighted to learn that it is exactly as it sounds- you will make a living travelling the world. As if that doesn’t sound amazing enough, you also get free meals and accommodation!!

If your passionate and talented at a niche skill like Yoga or Tango dancing or anything else there is an interest in, then why not do what you love AND get paid for it? How about teaching yoga in Bali or Morocco, or being a dance instructor in Argentina?

9. Bar Tending

Lets get back to basics – one of the most popular jobs for travelers is pretty easy to come by. So long as you have the right working visa and speak the language needed, you are almost guaranteed to find a job in a bar somewhere! Leaving home with previous experience is obviously a help but not necessary.

10. Freelancing in ANYTHING!

From travel writer, to photographer to just about anything that you can take with you on your computer, you can do it out there! In this digital age that we live in, it is becoming increasingly common to start up a small company, freelance and live abroad or take it on the road. Many small companies travel full time and work out of coffee shops! It is all possible!!

Travel as much as you can, as far as you can and for as long as you can. Life is not meant to be lived in one place.

So…. what are you waiting for?
