This two barrel flintlock pistol circa 1768 was commissioned by the king of France for his top generals so they could protect themselves from the many assassination attempts they were experiencing at the time. It was a fabulous pistol of its day deadly accurate and reliable in all weathers. It was beautifully engraved and personalised usually with the officers families coat of arms and certainly would have ensured loyalty and service to his majesty from his top brass.
